About Us
It all started when I went to my doctor for my annual physical and she said that I was obese. The word “obese” did not mean anything to me at the time. What did scared me straight was the look of “total resignation” in her eyes saying she knew there was nothing that she had in her bag of tricks (medicines) that would be able to help me.
I applied for the bypass gastric surgery but was turned down by the insurance company because they wanted me to have been on some supervised weight loss program for the past six months.
I remembered a coworker had gone to the Medifast diet program and I called and arranged an appointment. It was not run by a medical doctor but by a “Health Consultant” for the Medifast program. I paid $300.00 for a months supply of food and was told to eat one of the packages every 2 to 3 hours and have a salad for dinner. I was fine with the program but soon realized that it was not the Medifast food that was causing me to lose weight , rather it was the eating a 100 calorie meal every two to three hours and having a salad for dinner. In a conversation with my wife Joan , I told her what the “Health Consultant” said when I told her that the Medifast program was far too expense. The consultant explained that it was $300 a month but only $10.00 a day. Joan replied that for $10.00 a day she could feed a family. It was at that moment that I realized that there had to be a better and less expensive way to lose the weight.

Joan and Bill
Joan and I started researching everything we could learn about meal replacement plans and eventually created the “Joan Bars” which are about 100 calories each. The are made up of Oatmeal and Protein power plus other ingredients that add flavor and vitamins to the bars.
I t was when I saw the pounds of fat coming off me like magic I realized that I have something of value to share with all the other people who were suffering the losing battle of weight loss. We started keeping track of what I did everyday.
The first thing was to start the day with a bowl of stone cut whole grain Oatmeal.
I learned to add a half teaspoon of cinnamon because it will help control your blood sugar during the rest of the day. The next thing was to create what we call the “Feedbag”. I had soon realized that if I did not have my supply of water and “Joan Bars” I would get hungry and fall back into the eating habits that had cause me to gain 274 pounds. The “Feedbag” took care that I would never get hungry and not have the right combination of Oatmeal and Protein to chase the hunger away. Having the “Feedbag” always by your side is one of the most valuable tools in your fight with obesity.
In the “Feedbag” I carry my days supply of “Joan Bars” and half a gallon of water.
Most people think you lose the weight in solid form when it leaves your body, but you may be surprised to learn that fat is removed from the body by your urine. So the more water you drink and the more urine you produce the more weight you will lose.
We choice the name “Saturday Morning Diet” because you are on a honor system with yourself and knowing that you must get on the scale on Saturday morning will keep you on the straight and narrow.
